An oasis of calm and respite

"A lovely and charming place in the bush wilderness. Thank you for a delightful stay. We felt at one with nature in our romantic ecological cocoon."

Bombah is a retreat for the eco-conscious traveller. Tread lightly on untouched sand, wash in rainwater, forage from the eco gardens and learn the local ways. Situated beside Myall Lakes National Park, between Hawks Nest/Tea Gardens and Seal Rocks, Bombah is 1-hour north of Newcastle and 2.5 hours north of Sydney.

The eco cottages are nestled thoughtfully amongst the trees. The large and private master bedroom with queen bed and waffle bathrobes awaits you and your partner. Adjacent is the luxurious bathroom with hand-crafted timber finishes and huge rainwater spa bath designed for relaxation.

The generous open-plan lounge/dining space comes complete with a wood fire, plus a fully-equipped kitchen with oven, gas cooktop, fridge/freezer and everything you need to turn your favourite produce into a gourmet meal. Open the expansive windows onto the wraparound verandahs where you can enjoy an evening BBQ, or just laze in the hammock at sunset.

Collect fresh eggs from the chooks and pick herbs and seasonal fruit/vegetables from the Bombah organic gardens, to eat while you stroll or to complement the meals you prepare in your cottage.

The Myall Lakes region is a magical escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Thousands of hectares of unspoilt National Park and State Forest provide the perfect environment for some of Australia's most diverse and abundant wildlife to flourish - visitors to the area may see everything from sea eagles, pelicans and egrets to wallabies, kangaroos, bandicoots, goannas and even the occasional koala. The area also hosts one of Australia's largest and most interesting coastal lake systems, with more than 40km of spectacular unbroken beaches.

Stay for a weekend or a week; each season brings an array of new activities to enjoy from whales, walks, wildflowers and waves, to log fires, fishing and feasts.

  • An amazing cabin – felt like we were living in a tree house! Loved the quietness, chorus of cicadas and beautiful forests. Could stay forever! It was a great base to explore the Myall Lakes areas and beaches. We even got to kayak with a pod of dolphins!

  • What a place! We enjoyed our stay so much it’s really quite sad to be leaving. Fireplace, bushwalks, BBQ, serenity – it was everything and more than we needed. Thank you – we will be back.

  • We had a wonderful time here in this beautiful cottage. Sorry we couldn’t stay longer. Beaches were great … saw dolphins, pelicans and many birds. Out in the countryside saw kangaroos, goannas and more birds. Always so peaceful and relaxing to come back here. Hope we get a chance to visit again. Thanks so much.
