Amazing house

"Quiet and the hospitality and responsiveness from host was excellent."

Exeter is a quaint village in the Southern Highlands, home to English style estates, a historic country railway station, the popular Exeter General Store and numerous cellar doors.

Aubisque is a newly renovated luxury residence set amid a stunning garden estate. The property has been carefully designed and curated with objects and furnishings collected from the owners’ global travels. From the ‘Breakfast Room’, guests can enjoy expansive views across the rolling meadows and the ever changing weather conditions. Due to Exeter’s altitude being more than 700m above sea level, the region is renowned for experiencing heavy fogs and changeable weather. Col d’Aubisque is a famous mountain pass in the Pyrenees of France, which possesses similar changeable weather conditions and for which Aubisque is named.

The estate is privately positioned at the end of a quiet hedge-lined laneway, set amongst an acre of lush cool-climate gardens, which includes the 'Enchanted Walkway' in the front garden. The property is private and secure with electric gated entry.

  • This is one of those MUST visit destinations. It's as if this gorgeous cottage was plucked out of Woollahra in Sydney and transported to Longreach. The gardens are stunning, the chickens and roosters that come to visit, the cows and calves, the horse , the three friendly dogs and a simply stunning peacock. This place is truly AMAZING and so incredibly peaceful!!! The hardest part of the stay ... leaving.

    - BEN
  • We were lucky enough to spend two nights at this beautiful spot. We couldn't fault the property in any way. It really does have something special about it, which you couldn't capture in a photo. The owners of the property are truly lovely people who have inspired us to one day own something similar in the future. If you want to get away from it all then this is the perfect place to go. We will be back for sure.

    - LUCAS & SARAH
  • We have just returned from staying at Longreach Riverside for a week with our two dogs Leroy and Ruby. Maree and George are the most gracious hosts and made our stay so memorable. I can highly recommend this property as a lovely relaxing getaway, with or without your pets. Thank you for sharing your amazing place.

It’s a perfect location for bird watching. The little island has been home to several generations of Swamp Hens - you may also see Black Pacific Ducks and White Faced Herons enjoying the cool waters of the pond. Rick Stein at Bannisters reflects Rick's passion for seafood and the coastal lifestyle which he has enjoyed for most of his life. As he says: "nothing is so exhilarating as fresh fish, simply cooked". While he enjoys occasional fine dining, his food is much more about what he really likes to eat ... a plate of Clyde River oysters, a pot of Illawarra prawns with mayonnaise, a mound of spanner crab, a slice of blue eye or a perfectly grilled sand whiting. Fully licensed with one of the finest wine cellars in the area, you can relax and dine on the deck outside and enjoy ocean views from the elegant light-filled space.
