10km from Atherton and 6km from Tolga, Allawah Retreat provides a superb base from which to explore all the attractions of the historic Atherton Tablelands, the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef and the vastness of the savannah lands west to the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Allawah Retreat is a short drive from many quality Atherton Tableland restaurants and cafes, serving fresh locally grown produce. Enjoy shopping for antiques, jewellery, and local arts and crafts, going for steam train rides, hot air ballooning, wildlife spotting, bird watching, swimming, horse riding, rainforest walks, caving, exploring local weekend markets, or year round barramundi fishing on Lake Tinaroo. Visit the Mareeba Tropical Wetlands offering a wildlife reserve and a "Twilight Reserve Safari". Visit historic villages like Yungaburra, old goldmines, crater lakes or the great Aussie Outback. Allawah Retreat overlooks the picturesque Atherton Tablelands and offers 4 secluded self-contained lodges for couples. The elegant and spacious lodges are free flowing in design and tastefully furnished with handcrafted timber furniture.
Experience the feeling of remoteness on 150 glorious acres, and leave the world and daily stresses behind you, without sacrificing the creature comforts these secluded lodges provide.
From Allawah Retreat (aboriginal meaning, "sit, stay here and rest a while") you can enjoy sweeping views north and east across the Atherton Tablelands towards Lake Tinaroo, while behind you rise the rugged ridges of Australia's Great Dividing Range.
The lodges are built in the style of pole homes, with elevated decks which look through the treetops to the views beyond. The kitchen is equipped with all your needs including, full size fridge/freezer, cooktop, microwave, electric frypan, skillet, wok, cutlery, crockery, pots and pans, plus coffee plungers, oil, salt and pepper, and other kitchen appliances to make your stay homely. The lodges also have their own laundries with washing machine, laundry tub and clothes airer.
Allawah Retreat offers the friendly, warm hospitality and homemade goodies that you expect from a traditional Bed & Breakfast, but to preserve your privacy, any contact with you will be by written messages delivered with your hot bread in the mornings, or notes left on your personal notice board outside your lodge.

Midweek Special (Mon-Thu), based on a minimum 2 night stay: AU $260 per couple per night for HoneyGem or Moonlight Lodge, AU $270 for Treetops Lodge and AU $295 for Hideaway Lodge. Excludes Public Holidays.
These special Internet rates apply only to guests who enquire through the LoveBirds website and then go on to book direct with Allawah Retreat.
Breakfast provisions are provided at Allawah Retreat and include a combination of fresh eggs, bacon, tomato, hash browns, sausages, breakfast rissoles, orange juice, cereal, instant and plunger coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Fresh, hot crusty bread is also delivered to the lodge each morning to enjoy with Trish's homemade jams.
There's also complimentary port, and Trish's homemade cookies and handmade chocolates.
A minimum 2 night stay applies, except for public holiday periods, where a longer minimum stay applies. A minimum 3 night stay applies for Hideaway Spa Lodge from 1 June to 31 October. To ensure guest privacy, lodges are serviced once only during a 7 night stay. Daily servicing of your lodge is available at additional cost.

The romantic HoneyGem Lodge has a warm, homely feel and overlooks eucalypt woodland from its high ridge vantage point, offering sweeping views across farmland to the coastal mountains. The rich colour of red cedar furniture and trims with timber floors add to the relaxing ambience of the wood fireplace in the lounge room. The queen size bed can be closed off from the world behind folding timber louvre doors for added privacy. Other features include a private plunge pool, large heated deck spa, LCD TV, DVD player, stereo, dishwasher and pool towels.
MOONLIGHT HILLTOP SPA LODGE
The romantic Moonlight Lodge has a modern Australiana theme and overlooks eucalypt woodland and offers panoramic views over Atherton Tableland farmland to the coastal mountains of Cairns. TREETOPS SPA LODGE
This lodge has a modern, elegant and very spacious feel, and offers panoramic views from every room. The king size bedroom with luxury linen, flows into a huge ensuite with double shower and sliding timber louvre dividing doors to provide for added privacy. Enjoy the panoramic views from the deck or private garden courtyard. Other features include handcrafted timber and wrought iron furniture, large heated aromatherapy deck spa, with full recliners and head rests, DVD surround sound system, flat screen TV on rotating turntable, dishwasher and deck recliners.
HIDEAWAY SPA LODGE
A romantic haven, hidden away among the eucalypts with magnificent views from every room and accessed via an elevated timber boardwalk. It has a very free flowing modern open plan design, emphasised by the high cathedral ceilings. The centrally located granite and timber galley kitchen overlooks the deck and the views beyond. Luxury features include an under bench oven, deck BBQ complete with bar fridge and granite bench top, plasma television with DVD surround sound system, and spacious double shower.
The lodge has a huge deck with an exclusive "Hot Springs" heated deck spa as well as a sun deck complete with a double hammock, so you can sunbake by day and stargaze by night. Other features include a king size bed, additional small TV in the bedroom, dishwasher and handcrafted timber furniture.

It is suggested that guests seek travel insurance particularly for longer stays. You are responsible for damage, loss or theft from your accommodation. Allawah Retreat does not accommodate children. Cleaning policy: guests are asked to leave the lodge in a clean and tidy condition (dishes in dishwasher etc). Guests will be charged for any cleaning required additional to the normal cleaning. This also applies to linen and robes etc if they are left permanently damaged. Guests who exceed the normal check-out time will be charged a late check-out fee.
